Henry Frederick Alagia
September 30, 1947 - August 1, 1974

 

Henry F. Alagia, 26, of 103 Pleasant Avenue, Battle Creek, MI died of burns on Thursday, August 1, 1974 in the Veteran Administration Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was born in Battle Creek, MI on September 30, 1947, the son of Luke Henry Alagia and Bernice G. (Holtz) Alagia.

Henry was a disabled U. S. Army veteran and a patient at the local Battle Creek Veteran Administration Hospital recently.

He graduated in 1965 from Lakeview High School where he had participated in cross country and on the track teams. He attended Kellogg Community College and once worked at the Kellogg Federal Credit Union from 1965 until 1967. He served in the U S Army from 1967 until 1970 which included combat duty in Vietnam. He received commendations for the Purple Heart for wounds, the National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device.

Alagia was a Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop # 18, a member of Order of the Arrow, and a recipient of the Deo et Patria (God and Country) Award through the Lutheran Church. Henry was confirmed in 1960 and a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Battle Creek, MI.

Survivors include his mother: Mrs. Bernice G. Alagia of 103 Pleasant Avenue; his father: Luke H. Alagia of 25 Hickory Nut Lane; a brother: Ronald L. Alagia of 765 Avenue A; and two sisters: Miss Lunice Ann Alagia of East Lansing; and Miss Rosa Linda Alagia of 103 Pleasant Avenue, Battle Creek.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, August 5, 1974 at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Thomas L. Heil officiating. Burial will follow at the Battle Creek Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by the Hebble Funeral Service, 123 West Michigan Avenue, Battle Creek, MI.
