Charles "CJ" James Barker
December 11, 1946 - March 4, 2017

Charles “CJ” J. Barker Sr., age 70, of Battle Creek, died Saturday March 4, 2017 at Bronson Battle Creek. Charles was born December 11, 1946 in Battle Creek, to Xelpho and Mary (Hetherington) Barker and attended Lakeview Schools.

Charles enlisted in the US Navy after high school and served on the USS Hunley. Charles married the former Teresa Falconer in 1975. He had been employed by the Grand Trunk Western Railroad for over 30 years, retiring in 2004. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

Charles is survived by his wife Teresa, sons, Charles J. (Nicole) Barker Jr., Dale L. Barker and Clinton (Amanda) Barker, all of Battle Creek, grandchildren, Preston, Madison, Isaac, Dallas, Ashlyn, Kendra, Sophia, and Merrick Barker, sisters, Margaret Elliott of Arkansas, Wanda Kay Toner of Florida and Patricia ( Richard) Thompson of Climax, MI, a brother, John (Wanda) Barker of Hastings, MI. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Marie Barker in 1974.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday March 12th, at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, March 13th at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday at Fort Custer National Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Michigan Heart Association.
