Orville
"Stewart" Bruns, 61, of Battle Creek died at Care Community
on Tuesday, March 4, 2008. He was born in Oshtemo, MI on December
3, 1946, to Orville John and Margaret D. (Carmien) Bruns.
Stewart
grew up in Kalamazoo, moved to Battle Creek in 1963 and graduated
from Lakeview High School in 1965. He received a Bachelor Degree
in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and
a Masters Degree in Business from Western Michigan University.
From
1966-68 Stewart served proudly with the U.S. Navy, part of that
tenure in Guantanamo Bay.
Until
his health declined, he was employed by Edward Rose & Sons.
Previously he was a Professor teaching Business & Accounting
at Davenport College & KCC.
Stewart
was married to Linda L. McGrath on October 8, 1966 at St. Philip
Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda and
two brothers, Philip Adams and Rex Bruns.
Surviving
are a daughter, Angela Marie Bruns; a grandson, Trevor Bruns; and
a sister, Nola Hudson all of Battle Creek. He is also survived by
many close family members.
He
attended St. Philip Catholic Church. He loved playing Bass Guitar,
was a longtime member of the band "Glass Shadow", and
was proud of the CD they recorded. His greatest pleasure in life
was spending time with his grandson, Trevor "Little Buddy".
Friends
may call after 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral
Home where a Personal Tribute Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday and where the family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Charles H.
Fischer at St. Philip Catholic Church 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 7,
2008. Military honors and interment will follow at Ft. Custer National
Cemetery.
In
lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the family
or Lifespan Hospice.
