Diane K. Martin Shipley
February 18, 1947 - April 14, 1996
Dianne K. (Martin) Shipley, 49, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14, 1996 at her home after a brief illness.
She was born February 18, 1947 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Donald K. “Babe” and Valdine C. “Val” (Keeney) Martin.
Diane was a graduate of Lakeview High School in 1965 where she was on the Homecoming Court. She later attended the Patricia Stevens School of Modeling in Chicago, IL; then Kellogg Community College and a business school in Dennison, TX.
Diane worked at the Kellogg Company for three years and then at Clark Equipment Company. In 1978 she went to work for the Battle Creek Public Schools where she was currently employed.
She married Ronald T. Shipley in Chicago on August 2, 1965; he survives along with two sons: Bradley “Todd” Shipley of Augusta and Thomas L. Shipley of Battle Creek; a granddaughter, her parents of Battle Creek; a sister: Carol L. Haynes of Wyoming; a brother: Donald G. Martin of Tyler; and her grandfather: Edward J. Vogt of Battle Creek.
Diane attended the Family Alter Chapel and the Custer Chapel. She was a member of the Battle Creek Y-Center and Feeling Fit Health Club.
Visitation will be after 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 15, 1996 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4-7 PM Tuesday and 1-3 PM Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM at the Family Alter Chapel with Rev. Kyra Jackson and Rev. James Carey officiating. Burial will be on Thursday, April 17, 1996 at Memorial Park Cemetery of Battle Creek.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ann J. Kellogg Elementary School for the purchase of a video enlarger. Arrangements by the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, 105 Capital Avenue NE, Battle Creek, Michigan.
